    Incoming fifth and sixth graders are invited to join us for an escape room experience at Canaan Community Academy! We will be registering fifth and sixth graders for the 2018/2019 school year. Families can meet their teacher as well as other staff members, and learn about the many opportunities we offer, including free tuition; 60 minutes of recess daily; gardening, art, music, p.e, and character education classes weekly; and no homework. Incoming fifth and sixth graders who are already enrolled for next school year at CCA are also invited. We would love to show you how your child can explore, experience, and excel at Canaan Community Academy.

    Award-Winning Southern Writer Sharyn McCrumb is best known for her Appalachian "Ballad" novels, including the New York Times best sellers The Ballad of Tom Dooley, The Ballad of Frankie Silver, and Ghost Riders, which won the Wilma Dykeman Award for Literature from the East Tennessee Historical Society and the national Audie Award for Best Recorded Book. Her current novels are Prayers the Devil Answers, the story of the last public hanging ever carried out in the United States, and The Unquiet Grave, the story of West Virginia's Greenbrier Ghost. The writing of Sharyn McCrumb and the music of Jack Hinshelwood are combined for an entertaining evening highlighting the Ballad Novels of Appalachian. This internationally acclaimed program features Jack performing the Appalachian ballads, which are woven through the series, while Sharyn reads and discusses her work. Free. All ages.
