Trick-or-treating hours have been set for the City of Madison this year. Traditional trick-or-treating will be held Thursday, October 31st, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. As in past years, the Police Department encourages children and parents to wear brightly colored clothing for visibility in the dark. They also remind drivers to watch for children in neighborhoods and along roads.
The City of Madison has also scheduled the eighth consecutive year of Red, White, and BOO! This family-friendly Halloween party will return as the “safe alternative” to trick-or-treating on Thursday, October 31st, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Brown Gymnasium. Last year, nearly 500 children ages 12 and under attended the event.
Red, White and BOO! will feature booths sponsored by local businesses and organizations that will provide games, candy, and other fun activities for the children. Community members of all ages are invited to enjoy the evening by dressing up and attending. Treat bags will be provided to all children ages 12 and under. An adult should accompany all children.
Party-goers will also have the opportunity to participate in a costume contest and win fun prizes! Like last year, the costume contest will include a photograph area, and voting will take place online through the City of Madison and Madison Observer Facebook pages.
Due to the generosity of our community in past years, Red, White, & BOO! has never made use of taxpayer dollars. The City would like to continue that trend this year. If your business or organization would like to host a booth at this event or donate money, candy, or prizes, it’s not too late! Please contact Sydney Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 812-265-8300. Thank you for your generous support of this event!
