April 30, 2020, @ 9:30PM Madison Police and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested James Patrick Bruce 36, Clark County, Indiana, for level 6 felony intimidation of a law enforcement officer.
The arrest stems from an investigation led by Madison Police Senior Patrolman Aaron Watson, in which Bruce reportedly called Jefferson County Central Dispatch threatening to kill officers. In the recorded conversation, Bruce reportedly threatened to kill or injure Madison Police Chief John Wallace and Special Deputy / School Resource Officer Tim Armstrong. Bruce had also reportedly contacted the Carrollton Kentucky, Police Department, and made threats to kill them.
Officers attempted to locate Bruce at the Hillside Inn, his last known location, however he left just prior to officers arrival. At approximately 9:30PM Bruce was located walking, by Madison Police Patrolman Zackery Nicholson, near the intersection of Second and West Streets. Bruce was found to be in possession of an axe, when arrested. Bruce was transported to the Jefferson County jail where he awaits his initial court appearance on two level 6 felony charges.
James P. Bruce has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
