City Projects
City projects tend to originate from four categories (although they cross between them frequently as departments collaborate to accomplish their goals). These categories are Economic Development, Infrastructure, Parks and Recreation and City Beautification.
Economic Development Projects
The economic development team serves and cultivates the growth of our quality of life within our community by enhancing its amenities for attraction of investment. Through business, workforce and community development, we work closely with numerous agencies and nonprofits to craft strategic initiatives for growth and with business, industrial, and education stakeholders to ensure collaboration for workforce development.
Infrastructure Projects
Our investment in city infrastructure impacts everything happening in the city, from community safety and quality of life to economics and area redevelopment. Critical infrastructure and essential investment strategies in the city, much like our sidewalk management plan and flood mitigation efforts, are key elements in our quality of life here in Madison.
Parks & Recreation Projects
The City of Madison completed a comprehensive data collection and analysis in conjunction with public surveys, public meetings/input, meetings with staff, and current/former park commissioners to create a 5 year Master Plan for the Parks and Recreation Department. Combining this information with an inventory assessment, demographics study, and trends analysis the city was able to determine its needs moving forward and lay out priorities for 2022-2026.
Beautification: A Clean, Safe and Beautiful City
What all goes into cultivating a beautiful city? We believe a city should be clean and safe in order to be truly beautiful, and that's why we always tie these things together when we talk about our beautification projects. Everything from our Main Street flowerbeds, to our holiday lights, and our city ordinances contribute to making our city beautiful. There are always ongoing projects focused on this initiative, and we keep this page updated as progress is made.
